If Your Home is Damaged By a Hail Storm, Pennsylvania Home Insurance Can Help
Hail damage to your house is usually covered by your standard Pennsylvania home insurance policy. A hail storm that has damaged cars, fences, and nearby foliage has possibly been strong enough to damage your roof too. Ask a professional hail damage specialist to inspect your roof and give you an estimate of the extent of the damage and cost of repair.
Before you do any cleaning up take photographs or video footage of the damage including the size of the hail if possible. Tell your insurance provider or agent that your roof has been damaged so they can send an insurance adjuster to view the damage. You may need to arrange for your roof to be temporarily covered to prevent the possibility of water leaking through prior to repair. Keep any receipts for expenses you may have incurred during the hail clean up and make a list of any other hail damage to the outside of your home or other property.
When you receive your payment from your Pennsylvania home insurance company don’t delay arranging the repair. Often there is a time frame during which the insurance company expects you to have the damage repaired (usually 180 days from the date you receive payment), but that aside, you’ll want your roof restored to strength quickly in case another storm is on the way.
